Glad to hear that you are making progress with learning Chinese, as I understand it's not a easy catch. While learning speaking Chinese is hard, as we have totally different pronounciation rules compared with English, reading and writing Chinese are even harder. We learned Chinese in a natual way when we grew up, and my experience might help you a little bit although I understand it's totally different whether you are in the right environment or not. In short, you might need to practice again and again about how to pronounce a word and how to write it. It will be good if you have some Chinese friends around you, if not I'm sure you can find some language partners either around you or on line.
