Friday night dinners

Lost Canyon is a long way from most anywhere, and to make things more convenient for groups that are renting most or all of the cabins we will be glad to prepare dinner on Friday night, served in our home. Guests reimburse us only for the costs of the groceries, and are welcome to bring beer or wine, if desired. We like to cook, and enjoy meeting folks who come here.

Star parties

On clear nights we will be glad to set up the telescope for "star-parties.” We can also offer a slide show of some of the more spectacular images obtained from the Hubble space telescope and other space probes.

Birds

We have a bird-list for Lost Canyon, which currently describes over 160 species seen on or near the property. We also have a slide show available on the bird life here, and we are more than happy to lead bird-watching walks in the mornings, especially during spring migration (March through May).

Spiritual direction

Tom Taylor was trained as a spiritual director at the Benedictine Monastery at Pecos, New Mexico. If you would like to have a directed retreat - meeting with a spiritual director one or more times during your stay - please feel free to discuss this when you call. We are committed Christians (of the Episcopal persuasion) and are willing to assist individuals and groups who come here in any way that is appropriate. We have assisted with Alpha retreats, and we are always interested in helping develop interesting retreat programs, especially during Lent.

Please note that there is no charge for any of the above services (except the groceries for dinners). However, you will need to make arrangements for them when you make your reservations. We enjoy doing all of these things for our guests!
