Rules

Quiet

We want to insure a quiet, peaceful atmosphere for our guests. While many of the activities at Lost Canyon are inherently noisy, (and children can seldom be kept quiet), we would ask that you keep your fellow guest in mind by not getting too boisterous, especially around other cabins. Please respect others' desire for quiet and privacy as much as possible.

Things Not Allowed

Pets; motorboats and jet skis; off-road vehicles; smoking in the cabins; firearms; boomboxes (outdoors).

Safety

Your safety matters to us. Each cabin has a fire extinguisher, nightlights, smoke detectors, and other safety features. We have all the pests common to this country: mice, scorpions, spiders, wasps, ticks, ants. We try to keep them at bay, but you'll need to pay attention. Finally, be aware that on occasion we have sudden heavy rains that bring a rise to the creek and river. If this occurs, do not attempt to cross our dam, or swollen streams on the road back to the highway, even in a 4-wheel drive.

Registration

Check in between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. If you must arrive after 8, or before 3, please make arrangements in advance. The office is on the left just beyond the dam. Check out is at noon. If we are away from the office when you arrive, your information packet will be left by the office door. Payment is collected at registration, so that you will not need to find someone in order to check out.

Self-Service

If you have selected the self service rates, you will need to supply your own bed linens and towels. Every cabin has single beds, in addition to which the following have larger sizes: Chama, one king; Escondido, Tree Tops, and Mañana, one queen; Lago Vista, one full. When you leave we request you clean your cabin thoroughly (supplies and a cleaning check-list are provided), so that the cabin is ready for the next guest.

Kitchens, Phone

Each kitchen is fully equipped, including pots, pans, utensils, coffeemaker and microwave. The cabins do not have phones. These days most guests have cell phones; if you do not, and need to make a call, please let us know and we will be glad to let you use the office phone. If people call the office in order to reach you, we will post a message on your cabin door. Except in emergencies, we can't try to find a guest to take calls.

Food

There is a convenience store and small grocery in Camp Wood; the nearest services such as a large grocery, pharmacy, and the like in Uvalde, a 100 mile round trip. So come prepared!
